LOFT MILANO VILLAPIZZONE

From a headlight factory to a place to call home.

In Villapizzone, in north-west Milan, a former industrial complex has made way for homes and offices. The buildings that housed welding equipment and lathes in the last century now embrace new ways of living in the city, away from its more hectic pace.

Our clients, who previously lived near CityLife, were looking for a peaceful retreat: a comfortable home to share with Bo and Mah, a Labrador and a Setter—the true masters of the house—where greenery could soften, as it so often does, the industrial character of the setting.

The challenge was to transform a structure originally designed for manufacturing into a welcoming home offering a high level of comfort. This was achieved through natural lime-based plasters, internal insulation using Cannapalustre by Banca della Calce®, and high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, combined with mechanical ventilation and a photovoltaic installation designed to provide near-total energy self-sufficiency.

The aesthetic choices preserve and reinterpret the identity of the place: metals, resins, large-format surfaces and LED lighting define a pared-back language, while greenery brings life and a sense of home to the interiors.

A home with an industrial character, minimal in form and warm in atmosphere.
